The only real option most people have is to build a bike shed out of wood. Metal takes special tools and the components are not readily available. Use a saw to cut the components from 2 4 lumber. The first step of the project is to build the frame for the bike shed.

It seems there would be an infinite number of ways to build a bike rack from pvc pipe and this double bike rack is a good place to start. You could build a bike rack out of wood which could also include some hooks for helmets. As you can easily notice in the diagram you need to cut the components at the right dimensions. You can expect to spend a minimum of several hundred dollars and more likely more than 1 000 for this type of unit.

Besides wood pvc pipe has to be one of the best materials for building makey things. Somewhere between bike lockers and conventional storage sheds you will find storage units specifically designed for housing bicycles like the one pictured above. The rack could look something like this. Ideally you should have plenty of room for your bikes whether you re storing them indoor or outdoor.
