During a pre construction site visit elemental energy personnel noticed what appeared to be a hawk nest near the edge of their solar energy development property. Elemental energy developed a 15 mwac solar facility in brooks alberta the first utility scale solar project in western canada. Brooks solar is a 17 mw solar project located adjacent to the transcanada highway in brooks alberta. This project will include 50 000 solar panels that can power up to 3 000 homes and will be the first utility scale solar project in western canada.

The project will use jinkosolar high efficiency mono perc modules installed by borea construction. In addition to reducing ghg emissions this project will bring direct benefits to the community as well. Elemental energy is constructing a 15 megawatt solar facility near brooks. Brooks solar ii power plant brooks solar ii power plant the alberta utilities commission has approved an application for a 26 5 megawatt solar power plant in the brooks area.

Borea was responsible for the full engineering procurement and construction scope. Using over 48 000 high efficiency solar modules and nearly 3 000 tables of fixed racking system it is currently the largest utility scale solar plant in alberta.
